Assisting Students Struggling with Math
This is a great article to read for information about math interventions. It discusses recommendations for screening and instruction, intervention materials, and motivational strategies. One of my favorite parts of this article is that it not only discusses various strategies, but it also gives visual examples for the reader. Starting on page 34, several examples are drawn out to help the reader grasp the concept of the strategy. It's a bit lengthy, but worth the read. If you have a child struggling with math, you may find some great ideas in this article.

DreamBox Learning
DreamBox Learning - this link will take you directly to the DreamBox Learning site.
DreamBox is an awesome resource for differentiated math instruction and learning! It helps students master key concepts and boosts their confidence in math. It offers math for Pre-K through Grade 5 using virtual manipulative tools for "deep conceptual understanding and a highly engaging, student directed and game-like learning environment that motivates kids to persist and excel" (DreamBox site). It not only provides progress reports for teachers and parents, but it also shows teachers where the students' math skills stand in comparison to the Common Core Standards.
I love this program because it's not only a great tool for teachers and parents, but it is also a fun, engaging way for students to learn math concepts.
